DESCRIPTION

Temporary Employment Services (TES) places employees in departments that have temporary staffing needs. Assignment locations include the UCSD campus, UCSD Health System - located in Hillcrest, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Thornton and Veteran's Administration Hospitals, and a variety of UCSD satellite locations. Responsible for performing a variety of duties related to production, food service and patient meal service, according to established procedures and quality standards.

Responsible for routine cleaning, monitoring and stocking of appropriate supply levels of items necessary for assigned station. Serve food to customers according to order. Maintain sanitation of equipment, complete any and all checklists/logs pertaining to food service. Ensure patient/guest satisfaction. Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment for customer service. Ensure established food service practices are upheld and in compliance with departmental sanitation and hygiene standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year of food service experience, preferably in a large, complex healthcare environment.

  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.

  • Exemplifies customer service skills in dealing with food related issues with customers.

  • Ability to prepare food items according to production and sheet and records appropriate information.

  • Ability to maintain stock levels of all disposables and condiments during service.

  • Ability to deliver all catering orders promptly to proper locations and to clean up catering events ensuring all items are returned.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • A background check is required.
  • Medical screening is required.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to start working immediately after employment offer.
  • Applicants must be able to travel to various UCSD locations as needed.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours/week, on a varied schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Certain assignments may be assigned to work in morgues, gross anatomy labs, and in vicinity of biohazard/radioactive labs.
