This is a 100% contract position for one (1) year, with the possibility of extension or conversion to career.
Applies professional programming concepts for small to medium-sized projects or portions of larger projects. Resolves a variety of programming design and implementation issues. Works on programming assignments of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
The incumbent will work under supervision to design, implement, test and document code needed to meet CIPRES project goals. The position is expected to include development and support of user-focused applications that can deliver CIPRES RESTful services in new paradigms.
The work is also expected to include development of command-line interfaces for user access, through the Jupyter notebook, or through the Jetstream Cloud resource. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to the design and implementation of this solution according to best practices in software engineering.

Intermediate skills associated with the design, development, modification and deployment of software, including object-oriented programming concepts. Ability to assess project requirements, comprehend the existing software framework, and design new features that will fulfill requirements in a maintainable way.
Demonstrated experience with common programming tools.
Proven experience in Java and Python programming.
Proven experience in creating production ready web applications.
Demonstrated Experience writing code in a production environment.
Experience with command line Linux, and batch submissions systems on large clusters.
