Reporting to the VC-CFO, Information Technology Services (ITS) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO).

The Office of Information Assurance, Trust, and Identity (OIA) within ITS is responsible for the infrastructure, policies, standards and training necessary to ensure the achievement of the security and privacy goals of the University. Collaborating closely with various campus resources and partners, the department identifies, responds to and mitigates information security/privacy risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
OIA delivers a comprehensive set of enterprise security services in the areas of security policy, assessment, compliance, consulting, operations, incident response and risk management. The department is responsible for the design, deployment and administration of network, endpoint, application and information asset protection systems. OIA staff also work closely with the IT Infrastructure and Operations department to provide the campus-wide network/security infrastructure.
UC San Diego is establishing itself as a national center of excellence supporting the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program being deployed by the Department of Defense. This position will be dedicated to the support of endpoints working with data and services covered by CMMC standards. This includes the management and maintenance of several endpoint solutions, working with researchers and research labs to secure their endpoints (both in labs and in the field) in accordance with CMMC requirements, providing training to IT professionals who will be responsible for the daily operation of endpoints, and assisting researchers without IT support by providing management of their endpoints. Reporting to the Manager for Security Engineering and Services, the Endpoint Specialist for CMMC is expected to be an experienced security professional who will be part of a team dedicated to supporting CMMC and the research mission at UC San Diego.
- Deploying and managing enterprise endpoint security solutions necessary to support highly regulated endpoints.
- Maintain the endpoint infrastructure for the campus Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program.
- Training divisional IT staff on using endpoint management tools in a compliant fashion as well as providing some direct endpoint management of systems lacking local IT support.
- Provides expert-level engineering and guidance to the general challenge of secure endpoint management to the Office of Information Assurance, ITS, and campus IT staff, as needed.
Demonstrated knowledge of secure hardware, software and network design techniques.
Experience developing in a scripting language such as Perl, Python, BASH, and/or Powershell.
Proven skill at administering complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware, software and networks. Advanced experience with Linux administration, shell scripting, vi, grep, awk, sed, regex, etc
Bachelor's degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Employee must be able to obtain a Federal Security Clearance (if necessary)
• Demonstrated experience with Tanium endpoint management solutions.
• Demonstrated experience with MS InTune endpoint management solution.
• Demonstrated experience working in a Microsoft Azure environment.
