Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood and blood products transport, and inventory management. Cross trains to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary. This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in collaborative team environment, including: training and evaluation of peers; scheduling of work; and assisting the administrative functions of the unit. Job standards are to be performed at the EXPERT level.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
Must have demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.
Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
Currently enrolled in an RN program.
Familiarity with EPIC, PCIS, and UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.
Previous acute care experience.
Medical terminology training or certificate.
Successful completion of nursing pre-requisites.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
