DESCRIPTION

This nurse will provide care coordination for patients and families throughout the radiation oncology treatment experience, helping to coordinate multidisciplinary care, education and bridge to community or other UCSD resources. This nurse will also serve as a procedure nurse in providing appropriate assessment, intervention, planning and evaluation for patients undergoing moderate sedation and brachytherapy procedures.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. All performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the PRACTITIONER Level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN license issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Must have a minimum of six (6) months of active RN experience with recent Oncology experience.

  • Must obtain PALS certification within six (6) months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSN.
  • Recent outpatient and oncology RN experience.
  • Recent Procedural sedation experience.
  • Recent Procedural sedation experience.
  • ACLS and/or ART at the time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
