Temporary Employment Services (TES) places employees in departments that have temporary staffing needs. Assignment locations include the UCSD campus, UCSD Health System - located in Hillcrest, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Thornton and Veteran's Administration Hospitals, and a variety of UCSD satellite locations. TES has current openings for a variety of service & trade positions. Typical positions include but are not limited to: Groundskeepers, Laborers, Custodians, Sr. Custodians, Drivers, Animal Technicians, Building Maintenance Workers, Warehouse/Storekeepers, Lab Helpers and Lab Assistants. TES offers a variety of assignments, and an excellent benefits package, as well as opportunities for skill enhancement and exposure to career opportunities at UCSD. Hours, salary, and locations vary by assignment. Most positions are M-F between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm, although all shifts and part-time positions are sometimes available.
Skill requirements vary by position and typically include: Landscaping and grounds maintenance/repair functions; general labor experience; commercial custodial/janitorial experience; Cleaning and general maintenance duties for a variety of facilities at various campus locations; cleaning and animal care in scientific and/or laboratory environments; driving trucks, vans and other vehicles to transport passengers and deliver equipment and supplies. Working in storehouse using palette jack, loading and unloading materials, inventory, and stocking.
Background checks required. * *Certain assignments may be assigned to work in morgues, gross anatomy labs, and in vicinity of biohazard /radioactive labs. Applicants must be able to travel to various UCSD locations as needed.
