Temporary Employment Services (TES) places employees in departments that have temporary staffing needs. We currently have 5 openings for Sr. Building Maintenance Workers in various areas around campus.
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings and related facilities and equipment. Tasks include but are not limited to. repairing industrial appliances, disposals, pumps, heating systems, interior/exterior lighting, soldering and pipe-fitting, furniture and window treatment repair, installation and replacement. Responsible for troubleshooting maintenance problems and managing preventative computerized maintenance work orders via MAXIMO and handheld technologies. Provide customer service to all customers through the year. Will be assigned to cover campus buildings and grounds, performing maintenance work.
Demonstrate strong customer service by presenting a professional appearance and effectively communicate with faculty, staff and students in a helpful and respectful manner. Establish and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationships with members of the campus community.
Ability to safely lift, carry, move, push and pull 50 lbs.
Knowledge of the construction, painting, plumbing and electrical trades and mechanical and electromechanical systems. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required by the University's needs.
Must be able to work overtime for training purposes.
Background checks required. * *Certain assignments may be assigned to work in morgues, gross anatomy labs, and in vicinity of biohazard /radioactive labs. Applicants must be able to travel to various UCSD locations as needed.
