The Gastroenterology Per Diem RN provides pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures. The RN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. The RN assists physician with endoscopy procedures; provides moderate sedation under the direction of the physician; and other duties as assigned. Floating is required.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
RN License issued by the State of California.
Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
ART or ACLS at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Minimum one (1) year of recent adult GI or inpatient acute, critical care, emergency, procedural nursing or related experience.
- Specialty certification
- CGRN certification
- PALS certification
- Recent GI, procedural, or critical care background including moderate sedation experience.
- Must be able for possible overtime. Some on-call is required.
- Must be able to float between Hillcrest and Thornton (La Jolla).
- Must be available to work a minimum of four shifts per a four week schedule.
- Must be available to work flexible hours including late shifts, Mondays - Friday.
