The University of California, San Diego Health System seeks an individual with expert knowledge in a number of hosting technology disciplines including VMWare 6.x, Cisco UCS, and the integration with Pure storage technologies. These include physical hardware systems with blade and storage technologies, cloud computing infrastructure design, Active Directory integration, Nutanix Hyperconverged infrastructure with Citrix infrastructure integration, and other high availability systems engineering support.
The Hosting Engineer provides system design proposals, analysis, programming, maintenance, monitoring, cost analysis and hardening designs (including data security) of systems and servers including installations, upgrades, patches, backup plans as well as documentation with primary responsibility for the design, implementation, management and maintenance techniques of various system software products and hardware components that comprise enterprise physical and virtual computing infrastructure. Provides leadership in managing and supporting the systems/hardware infrastructure and associated resources. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for all applications and operating systems and participates in the on call schedule.
The Hosting Engineer will have expert knowledge with a variety of software tools, including those related to design, analysis and implementation. The Hosting Engineer will provide consultation and knowledge transfer with respect to a variety of system hardware and software components including (but not limited to) VMWare ESXi, HyperV, Windows Server, Linux Servers (primarily Red Hat), Cisco UCS, Nutanix, Pure, and NetApp (SAN storage and blade server technologies). Design knowledge and expertise with Cloud Computing technologies such as AWS, Azure and Office 365 administration and implementation.
The Hosting Engineer works with various parties to bring technical projects to completion and demonstrates experience and proven expertise in intrusion detection and remediation.
A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of five (5+) or more years of relevant experience in the design and deployment of complex IS systems.
Professional experience and proven success performing systems integration and deploying complex systems integration solutions.
Advanced knowledge of systems integration deploying complex systems integration solutions.
- Powershell and PowerCLI.
- VMWare Certified Professional 6.x, Data Center virtualization track.
- CSA Microsoft Cloud Platform Certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CompTIA Server+; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of IT Project Management techniques/processes.
- Experience with VMWare vRealize Automation, Log Insight, Operations and Orchestration.
- Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Support Specialist.
- Experience with Active Directory, Powershell, Microsoft Azure, and Office 365.
- Experience with CommVault, Pure, NetApp and Cisco UCS blades.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to travel outside of the county a minimum of 5% of the time for training, conferences/seminars, or meetings in support of assigned project.
