This position is a contract/limited position with the possibility of extension/career conversion.

Under supervision the incumbent performs journey-level procedures as they relate to electroencephalographic studies. The EEG Technologist is competent in performing the following studies: routine EEG; sleep deprived EEG; portable EEG: bedside prolonged EEG: ambulatory EEG: long-term monitoring hookups/baseline recordings. Communicates with the technical director in regards to daily operations. Incumbent assists with program development as needed. Performs other related tasks as required.


  • Graduate of an AMA accredited EEG technologist program and ABRET EEG Board registered.

  • The EEG Technologist must be ABRET EEG Board certified OR have one (1) year of clinical training at a hospital with outpatient and inpatient EEG services.

  • Eligible for the ABRET EEG Board Exam: Must pass within one (1) year of employment.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Two (2) years of experience performing the following EEG-related studies: routine EEG; sleep deprived EEG; portable EEG: bedside prolonged EEG: ambulatory EEG: long-term monitoring hookups/baseline recordings.

  • Must become ABRET Board certified in EEG within two (2) years of employment.

  • Must maintain CEU's for EEG Board Certification.

  • Attend two UCSD Epilepsy Conferences per 15 month period.

  • Record review 15 hours per 15 month period.

  • Present EEG/Epilepsy topic at tech meetings two times per 15 month period.


  • Experience in Neuro ICU.
  • Prolonged ICU monitoring.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
