Under the direction of the Director, provide consultation and information to management, academic and staff employees regarding a variety of retirement, health, life and disability plans and programs. Administer and counsel employees regarding specifications and implications of University sponsored health, welfare and retirement benefits programs. Design and conduct training courses for departmental representatives and managers regarding the University's benefits plan and programs provisions. Analyze and interpret programs, develop and present recommended revisions to the UC Office of the President.
Strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Strong in-depth knowledge of organization policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas.
Comprehensive knowledge of the organization's employee benefits function and programs and can address unique circumstances as well as routine situations.
Strong writing, speaking, and group presentation skills in order to present information in a clear and concise manner to multiple levels in the organization.
In-depth knowledge of all benefits programs in order to provide information and interpretation.
Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA Act as it pertains to Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's)
Knowledge of Internal Revenue Service Regulations as they pertain to monies received after retirement, disability income, tax deferred annuity and death.
Knowledge of Federal laws governing the Social Security System as they apply to regular retirement disability and Medicare.
