The Center for Healthy Eating and Activity Research in the Department of Pediatrics conducts various behavioral-therapy studies aiming to decrease obesity in children. The Center also provides clinical services to children referred from the Department of Pediatrics, Gastroenterology division.
The Clinical Research Assistant supports the clinical research efforts of the division of G.I., Hepatology and Nutrition in the department of Pediatrics in the Center for Healthy Eating and Activity Research lab. Under supervision, the Clinical Research Assistant will assist in study protocols, ensuring protocol compliance by all student research assistants involved in the study, phone-screening potentially eligible study participants, collecting behavioral, genetic and magnetic resonance imaging data, administering subject clinical assessments, and maintenance of accurate and complete clinical research files. This position is also responsible for data entry and quality assurance of multiple projects.
Theoretical knowledge in psychology or public health typically acquired at a collegiate level; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong computer skills such as word processing and data entry, as well as extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Proven effective interpersonal skills and oral/written communications skills, including ability to administer face-to-face and telephone interviews and keep accurate and detailed records.
Knowledge of coordinating clinical assessments and in-person interviews with subjects, researchers and other multiple programs for the research program.
Demonstrated knowledge of or experience in a research setting involving human subjects including HRPP compliance issues.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate clearly, effectively, tactfully, and patiently in-person, on phone and in writing to diverse population including faculty, staff,vendors, community organization reps, drug reps, and patients.
Ability to manage and prioritize phone and email correspondence in a fast paced environment.
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience recording data using the BIOPAC to measure psychophysiological measures including laryngeal electromyography (EMG), heart rate variability (HRV), and skin conductance (GSR)
- Experience conducting assessments with overweight children using Eating in the Absence of Hunger (EAH) Paradigms.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
- Required to work up to three nights/week. Occasional weekends may be required.
