The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will assist in the management of UC San Diego Health's growing LVAD program. The team consists of Physicians, RN Coordinators, and administrative assistants working together to provide and coordinate outpatient care. Management of INRs.
Under general supervision, the NP performs operational level duties as described in the UCSD Performance Policy. The major emphasis of this position is direct patient care delivery. Collaborate on-site with physician as needed. Assignments at this level primarily encompass management of patients who present chronic and/or episodic health problems. Assignments may include responsibility for occasional community teaching programs, participation in program planning and development of patient education information.

Must be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.
Current NP Specialty Certification from one of the following Nursing Boards: AANP, ANCC, NCC, PNCB, AACN.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Minimum one (1) year recent NP experience. Relevant experience in VAD/Cardiology highly preferred.
Must be able to perform procedures autonomously.
- Three (3) years or more of working NP experience.
- VAD, cardiology, heart transplant experience.
- Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
