Under general supervision of a Senior Supervisor CLS, perform independently a wide variety of technical procedures in a section of the Department Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Other responsibilities include method development-modification-parallel testing, collaboration on or independent preparation of abstracts or manuscripts, repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation, data entry and phlebotomy duties.
On a daily basis, assess overall workload for any area that needs help and help coworkers without being reassigned by the supervisor. Work is assigned daily and reviewed by supervisory personnel or designee. All Clinical Laboratory Scientists may process specimens, perform waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision, and report results without supervisor or director review for the tests that are within their scope of licensure and for which they have been trained and deemed competent.
Depending on experience of the selected candidate, the incumbent will be hired at the CLS or CLS Specialist level.
Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
Graduation from college with a major in a related field.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, non-discriminating judgment and accountability.
- Two (2+) or more years of experience as a CLS.
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- Clinical laboratory experience with some HLA lab working experience.
- Clinical laboratory R&D experience.
- Demonstrated molecular biology experience.
- Automation, such as auto sequencing, flow cytometry, and FAX Canto.
- Familiar with PCR, DNA/RNA.
- Demonstrated Luminex experience.
- Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
