Reporting to the VC-CFO, Information Technology Services (ITS) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Information Technology Services (IT Services) uses world-class services and technologies to empower UC San Diego's mission to transform California and the world as a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university. The Messaging and Collaboration Team manages campus-wide services, such on messaging, Office365, G Suite for Education, Sharepoint, and other collaboration technologies to meet campus-wide demand. The team is responsible for service delivery, configuration, and training of end-users, and departmental systems administrators. The team deploys and manages cloud-based services and works collaborative with ITS operational teams for on-premise services. This position will be the primary liaison to the UC San Diego campus for G-Suite services. They will architect and manage a complex G-Suite environment that provides services to all faculty, staff, and students.

G-Suite provides collaboration and productivity services to departments and teams, as well as their administrators, across the campus. It requires an in-depth knowledge of G-Suite, including use of the provisioning tools, APIs, and the GUI administrative console. Requires a deep understanding of G-Suite security controls and email routing protocols. They will collaborate closely with IT Services Security on ensuring proper security configuration. Will also manage email routing throughout the campus email environments. It requires a deep understanding of SMTP, DKIM, SPF, DMARC, and routing strategies that involve a heterogenous messaging environment.

Responsibilities to include manage and architect campus G Suite environment for faculty, staff, and students. Managing email routing and anti-malware products for all campus email environments, including G Suite and Office365. Provide technical support to junior administrators, service desk representatives, and departmental IT personnel: Liaison with campus stakeholders in the G Suite and messaging environments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge and experience implementing and managing a G Suite environment, integration with external identity management, authentication, and logging infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated experience with common scripting languages (Powershell, Perl, etc)

  • Proven experience managing a large MTA environment (SendMail, or other commercial products), including management of MX records, aliasing, and static mail routing techniques

  • Advanced knowledge, skills and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution.

  • Knowledge necessary to design, set up, operate and correct malfunctions involving technology systems.

  • Proven experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis.

  • Deep understanding and experience with email security controls, including phishing/malware prevention/remediation and e-discovery.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.

  • Employee must be available to travel as required.
