DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Directors and Executive Director, this newly created position will oversee entrepreneurial educational and acceleration programs for the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur (IGE).

The position is responsible for developing educational curriculums for entrepreneurship training and processes for technology and business acceleration programs. The Assistant Director will foster a growing network of industry mentors, and create programs to provide access to resources and investment capital for early stage technology teams and business startups. The position will direct internal IGE resources to ensure program execution and engage with campus organizations, industry partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement collaborative programs that help teams and startups commercialize their technologies.

Collaborates with faculty and directors to develop programs and prioritize objectives. Develops and implements self-sustaining business and financial models for new and existing IGE programs, including philanthropic, industry partnerships, and venture capital sponsorship models. Develops and organizes conferences and other public forums to promote the IGE brand and showcase successful IGE-assisted teams and startups.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic background and experience in selected area of research preferred. Knowledge of entrepreneurial concepts and practices as gained through education or related experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in technology development and commercialization processes.

  • Solid fundraising experience. Experience in developing effective proposals to partners and investors that have resulted in funding for an organization and its programs.

  • Proven experience with industrial research and development, startup formations and industry-university partnership programs.

  • Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills. Ability to objectively evaluate and analyze processes and results.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent presentation skills. Excellent negotiation skills. Ability to persuade, motivate and influence others.

  • Strategic planning experience. Experience setting priorities and goals, developing and implementing action plans.

  • Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.

  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results. Solid Strong networking and extensive experience in nurturing client relationships.

  • Experience leading and motivating organizational units, leaders, and staff to achieve objectives with the ability to plan and organize projects. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with academic and staff departments, including ability to represent the Institute and the Jacobs School by participating in meetings and conferences involving senior University officials and volunteer leaders.
