Incumbent serves as Workforce Development Analyst in Workforce Optimization---a division of Business Transformation & Optimization (BTOp) housed within Business and Financial Services (BFS). This position coordinates, manages and develops campus-wide workforce development initiatives including, but not limited to, serving as Assistant Director STRIVE Leadership Program, Manager of STRIVE Alum Program, liaison for uExplore and other campus-wide collaborative endeavors.

This position will coordinate and be a resource for BFS-wide initiatives related to Training & Professional Development Programs and BFS Retreats including the Supervisor Retreat, and BFS Leadership Team (BFS-LT) Retreat. Incumbent assumes a leadership role in expanding BFS employee engagement, recogntion, retention, and succession planning efforts, as well as customer service initiatives and serve as a general consultant to employees regarding career development opportunities. Additionally, as part of the BTOp organization, this position will be available for temporary assignment to special projects as needs and expertise dictate.

  • Flexible schedule may be required during certain phases of special projects.

  • Travel may be required to Office of the President (Oakland, CA).

  • A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Expert level of experience using MS Office applications.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Exceptional ability to write and communicate business content effectively in a variety of mediums (web, press release, newsletter, brochure, presentations, etc.) and in ways appropriate to targeted audiences (executives, business partners, end-users, general public, formal agencies, etc).

  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.

  • Demonstrated experience in common project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Excellent change management skills with demonstrated experience across all levels of the University or similarly complex organization.

  • Strong skill in presenting and marketing a proposal to enhance chance for adoption.


  • Five (5) years proven experience in developing programs and initiatives related to professional development in the workplace or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of leadership development methodology and best practices

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma and/or Prosci Change Managment Certifications.

  • Familiarity with UC and UCSD organizational structures, policies, procedures, and core functional processes and systems.
