The Clinical Massage Therapist (CMT), under direction will collaborate with all members of Moores Cancer Center staff and faculty to promote the improvement of the quality of life for patients. The CMT will provide massage therapy services to include, but not limited to hand, foot, lymphatic, Swedish, massage using effleurage, petrissage and tapping to promote relaxation and reduction of physical and psychological pain and anxiety.
The CMT will conduct and provide education to staff and faculty regarding the initiation of services. Provides education to patients regarding the use of massage therapy and other complementary modalities offered within Moores Cancer Center and/or UCSD, individually and through group education classes. The CMT will assist in the development of and implementation of the massage therapy program at Moores Cancer Center including future recruitment, training, development, and oversight of massage program volunteers, interns, and/or staff.
Possess the equivalent to Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) certification in Massage Therapy training and minimum of four (4) years of experience.
Degree or educational background in nursing or appropriate scientific field.
Demonstrated experience working in a clinical setting.
Proven experience and knowledge of massage therapy techniques and treatment modalities.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact and work with diverse population of patients, staff and faculty.
Skills and experience in making independent decisions and solving problems.
Ability to provide in-service training to students, staff and faculty on massage related subjects.
Strong problem solving skills. Ability to solve unexpected logistical problems and make sound last minute decisions.
