Responsible for the independent coordination of payroll and personnel issues as well as financial management for the Human Resources Division of the Department of Housing, Dining, Hospitality, a complex, widespread department, with more than 650 monthly/bi-weekly-paid career employees. Incumbent will perform human resources functions and accurately complete personnel transactions related to recruitment, changes in status or funding, leaves of absence, disability, separations, and final wage calculations/transactions for all assigned career employees.
Update personnel actions utilizing online payroll personnel system (PPS), Online Timekeeping, My Time and internal database (PeopleTrak). Provide back-up for team members processing biweekly and monthly timekeeping. Assist in developing internal policies and procedures.
Duties include application of union contracts and policies governing non-represented and MSP employees; troubleshooting and researching to resolve timekeeping errors and/or pay discrepancies; maintenance of confidential employee records and personnel files. Incumbent will also monitor the Human Resources annual operating budget and will ensure compliance with the University's purchasing and disbursements policies and procedures. Will oversee all purchasing activities.
Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 7 divisions, with more than 650 staff employees, 800-1000 student employees and an annual operating budget of $150 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 15,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff and their families in over400 buildings and approximately 5.3 million sq. ft. Currently, HDH houses 38% of UCSD’s enrolled students with a goal of housing 50% in the near future.
