#87081 Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee Manager

The Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) Manager will work closely with oncologists, translational researchers, bioinformaticians, pathologists and geneticists in the context of clinical projects whose objective is to further personalized medicine and cancer clinical trials UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center.

The incumbents duties will include coordinating all aspects of the protocols that will be reviewed for scientific merit by the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee; acting as a liaison with investigators/researchers both at UCSD and in the community; coordinating and overseeing start up procedures, project implementation, screening, enrollment, and maintenance of patient and subject data; create informational and training materials and act as a liaison with other UCSD departments and community clinics/agencies; assuring compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines; oversee the quality of the medical and clinical research data collected per protocol procedures; assist PIs with proposals, progress reports and manuscripts.

Independently create original documents and policies for the Program. Work closely with federal and state regulatory officials. This position requires the candidate to maintain strict confidentiality.


  • Theoretical knowledge and/or a Bachelor's Degree in a biological science; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of clinical trials methodology.

  • Experience in data collection, management and analysis, using web tools, relational databases, statistical software and spreadsheets.

  • Advanced knowledge of experimental protocols, data gathering, protocol design, development and evaluation.

  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory issues in clinical research.

  • Experience with FDA, NCI, and ICH regulations and guidelines for clinical studies and medical devices, including GCP's and GMP's.

  • Knowledge of compliance issues and proven experience in adherence counseling techniques. Knowledge of Federal and University polices on clinical trials and protection of human subjects.

  • Experience in maintaining quality control in clinical research activities. Working knowledge of auditing processes in the drug development and approval process.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of complex audits that require interpreting regulations, guidelines, and compliance issues. Experience in developing, implementing, evaluating, and documenting audit procedures.

  • Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet software (Microsoft Office) and internet browser applications. Experience in conducting searches on the internet.

  • Skill at negotiating with various personalities and developing internal and external network of contacts. Excellent phone etiquette skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills (using grammatically correct written English and accurate typing) to interact with variety of personalities at all levels of the organization, exercising tact, mature judgment, diplomacy, and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness.


  • Must be able to travel to different locations & work weekends and evenings as needed.

  • Must be able to obtain pre-employment background check clearance, physical clearance and TB test clearance. Must be able to obtain annual TB/Fit test clearances.
