The Clinical Translational Research Institute (CTRI) is an Organized Research Unit at the University of California, San Diego.
The goals of the institute include:
1) Providing an academic home for the discipline of clinical and translational science
2) Enhancing bioinformatics capabilities that leverage unique UCSD resources
3) Developing novel technologies to improve clinical research
4) Forming research alliances to translate scientific discovery into best practices
5) Training the next generation of clinical and translational scientists
The CTRI has partnered with San Diego State University, J. Craig Venter Institute, the Burnham Institute, Salk, La Jolla Institute of Allergy and Immunology and Palomar Pomerado Hospital to expand our research potential. In addition, the CTRI collaborates with industry to advance clinical research opportunities.
In consultation with Clinical Translational Research Institute (CTRI) Division of Design, Biostatistics and Ethics (DBE), the Statistician will be assigned to assist CTRI investigators with study design, data analytics, and presentation of scientific findings. Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform moderately complex statistical computations for CTRI investigators; consult regarding analytical approach for studies of moderate statistical complexity and scope; provide guidance to students on statistical issues of moderate complexity; and contribute to manuscript development for studies requiring moderately complex statistical methods.
Graduation from college with a major in statistics or a related field and two (2) years of professional statistical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated working experience with statistical methods and models incorporating a broad range of variable types and traditional and contemporary statistical approaches.
Demonstrated knowledge of statistical computer packages, including R.
Demonstrated experience doing moderately complex statistical programming.
Demonstrated knowledge of Windows network-based PC's.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people from faculty investigators to support staff throughout the institution.
Demonstrated knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and relational database concepts.
Demonstrated skill in prioritizing multiple responsibilities and tasks. Excellent organization skills.
Master's degree in statistics or biostatistics.
Knowledge of SAS and SPSS.
Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and using large and complex databases.
