#86062 Nurse Retention & Onboarding Specialist

DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Nurse Retention Specialist has an active role in nursing retention, rewards & recognition and onboarding newly hired nurses. Provides and presents to management team detailed reports and analysis on nursing retention. Works closely with nurse leadership regarding nursing metrics.

Responsible for creating relationships with all new nurses and works closely with each one through their first five (5) years of employment at UC San Diego Health. Participates in assigned committees and coordinates milestone events. Assists new nurses with confidential matters and works to resolve issues in a timely manner. Provides guidance to department and managers related to the employment process and laws, personnel programs, collective bargaining agreements and Federal and State regulations related to employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's Degree; or equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience in which professional nursing recruiting/retention was the main activity of the position.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing retention techniques and methodologies.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, applicant tracking systems, and other online survey programs. Must be comfortable using and learning new technology.

  • Able to deliver consistent, high-quality customer service experience to a diverse clientele.

  • A self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; and a person who is open to new ideas.

  • A creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.

  • Personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

  • Human Resource Management certificate or PHR preferred.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing (grammar, spelling, editing, proofreading), and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

  • Must be able to work overtime and non-business hours as determined by the business needs of the department.

  • Must be able to travel between hospitals and outpatient areas when needed.
