DESCRIPTION

This position serves as the Divisional ESR Change Manager for the multi-year campuswide Enterprise Systems Renewal (ESR) Initiative, aimed to transform and streamline core business and administrative processes, including but not limited to, finance and budget, human resources, academic personnel, sponsored research, student affairs, and space.

The Divisional ESR Change Manager serves as a liaison between the ESR teams and subject matter experts (SME) from the Jacobs School of Engineering, Division of Physical Sciences, and other academic divisions where relevant, ensuring that unit perspectives have been presented and clear communication is maintained between all parties (ESR teams, SMEs and unit staff). Provides implementation training to staff in the academic affairs departments in support of the ESR initiative at UC San Diego.

This position operates as a functional leader with subject matter expertise in core campus business processes and strategic vision. Requires expertise in project management, campus organization, and the ESR Initiative environment. The work requires frequent problem-solving and analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure.

Independently uses and applies wide-range experience and proficiency in organizational development, effectiveness, business process analysis, and strategic planning while working with multiple organizational stakeholders. Uses advanced concepts, objectives, and techniques to resolve complex organizational development, design and effectiveness issues. Regularly works on highly complex organizational issues where analysis of circumstances, information, and data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience with human resources, space, academic personnel, finance, and student affairs from an academic unit perspective.

  • Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates the ability to provide comprehensive recommendations and solutions that address project needs. Ability to coach, facilitate and influence people at all levels. Demonstrates ability to become trusted facilitator/advisor engaging all essential campus stakeholders.

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, flexibility, and skills in dealing with politically sensitive situations.

  • Advanced project management skills. Demonstrates the ability to execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget, mitigate risks to project success, define project objectives, and oversee quality control throughout the project’s life cycle.

  • Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures.

  • Experienced in leading projects that engage a diverse constituency and key stakeholders. Project leadership experience which includes familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques. Ability to take anecdotal information and translate it into measurable data. Expert ability to convey complex or technical content into understandable terms that suit the intended audience. Ability to compose and deliver presentations to large and/or diverse groups.

  • Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills. Highly skilled in independently understanding, analyzing, interpreting complex data, written material, and computer generated information while maintaining the overall process viewpoint, and effectively communicate the results to a variety of personnel at various levels.

  • Ability to organize ideas, data, and meaning to communicate clearly to a wide range of personnel at all levels.

  • Demonstrates strong collaborative skills and knowledge of facilitation methods that lead to effective project outcomes.

  • Ability to quickly learn and communicate fundamental business statistical language and translate complex data for all levels and audiences.

  • Expert level knowledge of Google Suite, MS Office Suite - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
