DESCRIPTION

The Alzheimer's Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS) was formed in 1991 as a cooperative agreement between the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the University of California, San Diego. The ADCS is a multi-center clinical trials consortium that provides an operational framework for large scale Alzheimer's disease research projects.

The ADCS consists of 7 cores, 22 committees, 35 research sites that are members of the consortium/Steering Committee, and an additional 40 or more research sites located across the U.S. and Canada that participate in one or more trials coordinated by the ADCS. Annual funding for the ADCS ranges from $15-25M. The ADCS provides expertise in developing Alzheimer's disease related protocols and is the coordinating center for multiple clinical trials of varying sizes and complexity under subcontracts funded by NIH and clinical trial agreements with industry partners.

As a member of the ADCS, the Information Systems Analyst will develop and maintain moderately-complex and complex applications, components, and frameworks used for the capture, analysis, management, and dissemination of clinical trial data. The Information Systems Analyst will serve as a domain expert on development of data products that encompass data integration processes, data transformation, and data warehousing and reporting tools/techniques.

The Information Systems Analyst is required to ensure the extracted, transformed, and displayed information meets all regulatory and business requirements of the organization and end users. Applies professional concepts, department/unit and campus/medical center/OP policies and procedures to resolve a variety of complex issues in one or more IT areas of specialization. Analyzes complex issues. Within defined procedures and practices, determines appropriate action.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field; or five (5) years equivalent training.

  • A minimum of three (3+) or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working with healthcare or biomedical research data under privacy regulations (HIPAA) is desirable.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.

  • Broad knowledge of various areas of IT. Proven testing and test planning skills. Knowledge and experience working with large, complex biological and/or clinical data sets.

  • Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation. Basic knowledge of secure software development. Ability to create software specifications.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with a range of programming, markup, and query languages, including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Python, Perl, SQL, etc. Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience with relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc

  • Proven ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.

  • Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis. Extensive knowledge and experience with web application development tools and frameworks, including Pyramid, Flask, Django, CGI.pm, mod_perl, Catalyst, JQuery, Dojo, YUI, etc. Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with database interfaces such as Psycopg, DBI/DBD, MySQLdb, JDBC, etc.

  • Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Advanced knowledge and experience with testing tools and software, including PyTest, Nose, PyUnit, Test::More, Test::Deep, JsUnit, JUnit, and Selenium tools. Knowledge of computer systems, software, and relational database documentation procedures.

  • Experience with database administration. Working knowledge of database management systems and standards. Knowledge relating to database system design. Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases.

  • Knowledge of and experience working with object oriented programming techniques. Extensive knowledge and experience designing RESTful APIs. Knowledge of computer systems, software, and relational database documentation procedures.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion. Proven familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including experience securing server-based software. Skill at administering moderately complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware, software and networks.

  • Demonstrated ability to create software development project plans and schedules utilizing standard Agile Project Management tools and methodologies (JIRA, Confluence).

  • Demonstrated ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent/related functions.

  • Superb analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail. Work independently and as part of a team. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proven ability to lead project teams and provide team progress reports. Ability to work well with various study personnel at multiple levels and exhibit superior diplomacy skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Data Structure Standards (CDASH, SDTM).
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, GCP, CFR Part 11, and ICH guidelines.
