DESCRIPTION

The UC San Diego Human Resources Department is the campus central office encompassing numerous core campus organizations that include DisAbility Counseling and Consulting, Equal Opportunity Services, Compensation and Classification, Benefits, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition and Data Analytics, Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, Labor Relations, Retirement Resource Center, Policy Development and Work Life, Staff Education and Development, and Temporary Employment Services.

Responsible for managing Temporary Employment Services business operations, which includes full range of administrative, planning, and office resource allocation. Coordinate activities, events and meetings. Serve as unit safety coordinator. Provide front desk back-up coverage, as needed. Handle special projects as requested, interacting with various levels of management and outside agencies, coordinating, compiling and analyzing information/products/costs. Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining supplies for storeroom, equipment areas and kitchen.

  • Overtime may be required.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, spelling, writing, proofreading, editing, punctuation and usage.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate clearly with others. Ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining a professional relationship.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated experience planning/scheduling meetings and events efficiently and accurately.

  • Strong skills to investigate and resolve payroll and personnel issues and problems. Ability to extract, compile, analyze and effectively present pertinent information.

  • Strong analytical skills to identify, asses and communicate to department managers and candidates appropriate job requirements for specific position and for general job categories.

  • Working knowledge of recruitment methods and techniques for a wide range of occupations. Possesses demonstrated expertise with recruitment and hiring activities.

  • Proven knowledge of payroll and timekeeping practices and procedures including leave accrual, salary scales, etc.

  • Strong problem solving ability and aid in developing potential solutions, implementing appropriate solutions, and monitoring results or progress.

  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to be a team player. Competency and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Strict attention to detail and ability to independently and accurately complete documents and computer transactions error free and in a timely manner.

  • Ability to independently set priorities and accomplish tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions and changes of complex administrative activities by determining the time, place and sequence of actions to be taken in order to meet established deadlines.
