DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, the incumbent is part of a team that provides technical support/customer service (Help Desk) for UCSD Health end-users. Secondarily, serves as a backup for the UCSD Computer Operations Team on an emergency/as needed basis.

Help Desk responsibilities include, but are not limited to answering phone calls, emails, and voicemails from staff and physicians with the goal to resolve the customer need on the first contact. This position may be required to provide 24/7 support as needed based on business needs. Performs other related functions as required.

Variable shifts that include one weekend day per week and potential start times from 4:00am to 2:00pm.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years of professional experience, and proven success providing information systems support and management.

  • Two (2) years of customer support in a help desk environment.

  • Proficient in use and support of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS: Word, Windows 7, Excel, Windows 8, and Outlook.

  • Strong ability and experience in oral and written communications regarding technical subjects.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical questions over the phone.

  • Skilled in communicating, in a helpful, effective and informative manner via telephone, electronic mail and web.

  • Superior interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility with ability to communicate with individuals of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds at all levels of our organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One (1) or more of the following Certifications: CompTIA Net+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+.

  • Three (3) years of Customer Support in a help desk environment.

  • Five (5) years of professional experience, and proven success, providing information systems support and management in a large scale healthcare organization (1000+ Users and 1000+ Devices).

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • A background check is required.

  • Must be open to non-standard work hours.
