#88659 (RN) Nurse Manager, Cardiothoracic Transplant

Working closely with the Administrative, Surgical and Medical Directors of the thoracic transplant and ventricular assist device programs, the Nurse Manager of the thoracic transplant programs is responsible for providing administrative and clinical leadership for the Heart & Lung Transplant and VAD Programs. The incumbent develops and ensures adherence to the standard of care, process improvement, maintenance of regulatory compliance and personnel management. The Nurse Manager oversees clinical staff to ensure proper oversight of the thoracic transplant and ventricular assist device programs.

The Nurse Manager also provides fiscal management of staffing expenses and is responsible for ensuring that administrative and clinical goals are met. Conducts timely performance appraisals, performance management, training, counsels staff and takes disciplinary action as needed in coordination with Human Resources/Labor Relations. Assures accurate timekeeping and payroll for all departmental employees. Participates in quality control, process improvement and investigations of adverse events within the thoracic transplant and ventricular assist device programs.

  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.

  • Cardiothoracic nursing experience.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.

  • Working knowledge of financial, public relations, and strategic planning in the healthcare industry.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated decision making, problem solving and prioritizing skills.


  • Master's Degree.

  • Nursing Administration Certification.

  • Transplant and VAD experience.

  • Marketing and Fundraising experience.


  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

  • Some travel will be required.
