Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician will perform a full range of duties in the Outpatient pharmacy setting. Assist the pharmacists in the preparation of medications for patient use for IV sterile compounding preparation and administration in accordance to established procedures under USP/USP; assist in the distribution of medications via Pyxis MedStations; maintains skills applicable to all information systems within the pharmacy, recordkeeping and billing functions; maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned. Will assist pharmacist in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned area.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by PTCB.
Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience required.
Experience in project management/system responsibility (e.g. Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst); OR is a Pharmacy School graduate; OR expanded responsibilities over several areas OR possess a Pharmacy Intern License.
Thorough knowledge of Pharmacy terminology and calculations.
Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
Strong detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.
Have both excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environments.
- Two to five (2 - 5) years of previous IV and Chemo experience.
- Knowledge of Epic WAM.
- Prior retail experience with oral chemotherapeutic agents.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
