The Nurse Manager provides support and care to the clients and maintains professional standards of care, following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under general supervision, the Nurse Manager is responsible for immediate supervision of a wide variety to include Urology and Urologic Oncology clinic and procedure functions, planning and performing direct and indirect nursing interventions; and is responsible for supervising, organizing, planning, assessing and monitoring the medical services provided by UC San Diego Health System. Position works in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to assure that patients are receiving the best medical, nursing, and psychosocial care possible. Position assists in administrative efficiencies through the medical service areas, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching and performance management. Position has frequent independent judgment in monitoring the day-to-day operation of the unit with minimal administrative assistance/supervision. This position will also provide direct patient care as needed in the clinic and procedure areas.

This position will support Urology services in UC San Diego Health's new Outpatient Pavilion scheduled to open in early 2018.


  • BSN required; will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in BSN or higher nursing degree program.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.

  • Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible nursing experience.


  • Leadership experience in large clinic and/or procedure environments.

  • ONS Chemotherapy and/or Biotherapy Certification.

  • Experience in urology ambulatory outpatient setting to include ambulatory urology procedures.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Must be willing to work overtime if required.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
