The Nurse Manager provides support and care to the clients and maintains professional standards of care, following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under the general supervision the AN III is responsible for immediate supervision of a wide variety of clinic functions, planning and performing direct and indirect nursing interventions, and is responsible for supervising, organizing, planning, assessing and monitoring the medical services provided by UC San Diego Health System.

The Nurse Manager works in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to assure that patients are receiving the best medical, nursing, and psychosocial care possible. The AN III assists in administrative efficiencies through the medical service areas and has frequent independent judgment in monitoring the day-to-day operation of the units with minimal administrative assistance/supervision.

This position will support Breast Health and Infusion Oncology services in UC San Diego Health's new Outpatient Pavilion scheduled to open in early 2018. The position is expected to start late fall.


  • BSN required; will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in BSN or higher nursing degree program.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.

  • Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible nursing experience.

  • Oncology experience within the last three (3) years. Oncology clinic experience and/or infusion experience required.

  • Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy provider card or must obtain within 6 months of hire.


  • ACLS and/or UCSD ART certification (required to obtain ART within 6 months of hire).

  • OCN or must obtain within 1 year of hire.

  • Experience supervising in large clinic and/or infusion environments.

  • Infusion Center experience.

  • Women's health or breast health experience.

  • Budget oversight experience.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
