This is a a part-time 40% limited position with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status. Position is not eligible for benefits


The Executive Assistant supports the MICS Faculty Directors and facilitates industry engagement activities in coordination with the Faculty Directors and the Deans Office Corporate Research Partnership Business Development Directors.

The Executive Assistant is responsible for a range of duties that serve the mission of the Center, including coordinating multiple calendars for meetings and events, arranging and reconciling travel, providing logistical support for industry visits and events, updating website content as directed, formatting presentation materials and reports, as well as drafting correspondence. The Executive Assistant should display a high level of customer service, in order to facilitate active engagement between industry partners, Center Faculty and Student Affiliates, and the Deans Office Corporate Engagement Team. The Executive Assistant works collaboratively with colleagues in the Dean's Office and Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.


  • Demonstrated experience providing high level administrative support in an office or academic setting.

  • Proven experience in scheduling, organizing, and coordinating seminars, meetings and special events.

  • Experience preparing and processing travel, purchasing, and disbursement requests. Experience managing a complex calendar.

  • Proficient computer skills, including understanding of and ability using various applications such as spreadsheets, word processing applications, databases, email, and internet browsers. Skill using computerized business applications and databases.

  • Strong skill in conceptualizing, planning and organizing events and projects.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral form with students, staff, faculty and other diverse groups of people.

  • Ability to establish new procedures for operations. Ability to analyze diverse needs, material and/or issues to facilitate ordering the elements into logical and organizational structural processes and procedures.

  • Ability to analyze complex situations and data, and develop clear and concise written/oral reports or recommendations, especially when no clear directives are provided and/or there are many possible solutions.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts with creativity and authority while maintaining a professional relationship. Ability to control situations or events in the absence of higher authority and ability to make recommendations or decisions that affect Center’s operations and activities.

  • Ability to function efficiently and productively as a team member with all the interpersonal skills required to build and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals, campus units, and industry contacts.

  • Strong ability to organize workload, set priorities, meet frequent deadlines, and work independently and effectively under pressure/constant interruptions. Proven ability to manage a large volume of detailed work.


  • 16 hours per week, flexible schedule.

  • Job offer is contingent on clear Background Check.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
