Under the general direction of the Financial Services Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting functions such as analyzing, monitoring, preparing and reconciling financial information to reflect the condition of the organization and provide financial data to control operations. The incumbent will know how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field; independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; analyzes problems and determines solutions. Also may
involve preparation of financial reports to meet internal and external reporting requirements. May include activities relating to developing, implementing and monitoring accounting systems, policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of capital assets and related debt. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, analytical review of capital and debt related expenses and the balance sheet; preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation as well as audit schedules and special fiscal year-end closing entries; system administration of the asset management system and procedures. Uses advanced accounting concepts and organizational objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on highly complex accounting assignments that are of diverse scope requiring analysis of identifiable factors using multiple accounting and financial sources. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, completing analysis and developing recommendations. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, with general instructions provided on new or unique accounting assignments. Interacts with senior internal and external contacts on matters of some significance to the accounting organization.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and /or related area, and / or equivalent combination
of experience / training.
- 5 or more years of relevant experience.
- Experience and thorough knowledge of accounting function and assignments.
- Professional certification.
- Five to Seven (5-7) years experience in general ledger accounting with demonstrated knowledge of capital asset and debt recognition.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient to expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to collect and summarize data, evaluate and establish options, and recommend and implement solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to address customer complaints in a professional and effective manner.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
