The laboratory explores the role of RNA modifications in cancer, immunity, and stem cell biology. Projects in the lab use cell culture, animal models, neural stem cells, 3D organoids, human pluripotent cells and several molecular tools to investigate fundamental mechanisms of cancer development, AIDS, and immune disorders.

Under general supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Staff Research Associate (SRA) III will perform cellular lab experiments, making significant independent contributions in the design, troubleshooting, modification and analysis of experiments and protocols. Incumbent will also perform experiments using tissue culture techniques such as PCR, plasmid purification, iPSC production and characterization, and HT screening and sequencing, gene silencing, cloning, CRISPR genome editing, cancer models, drug treatments, under general supervision. In addition, the incumbent will independently support duties to include RT-PCR, qPCR, DNA and RNA molecular experiments, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, affinity purification, analyze and report data, prepare complex solutions, reagents and culture media and run cell analyses to ensure quality and control.

The SRA will be responsible for implementing and performing a variety of new and on-going experimental protocols, making significant research contributions to the laboratory and making innovative contributions pertaining to complex experimental procedures of iPSC production and characterization. May provide training and direction and work cooperatively with other SRAs, including doctoral and student lab assistants. Compile and analyze research data, draft articles and grant proposals.
