This position will serve as the Lead Applications Developer and Database Administrator for Calit2 and its associated projects that have local, national and international scope and are devoted to harnessing information technologies and telecommunications to improve the competitiveness of the California economy and to benefit society.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent in education and work experience.
Experience with developing complex applications using multiple databases and data stores.
Experience with utilizing 3rd party Data Store API’s for knowledge discovery (Linked Data, Freebase, Social Network platforms such as Flickr, Twitter etc)
Experience with open- and community-source projects (such as Apache, Eclipse Foundations, Maven, Lucene, Struts, Tomcat, etc.). Experience in creating web servers on Unix Virtual Machines running CentOS(REHL)/Ubuntu
Experience working with MVC architecture development using existing frameworks such as Zend, Ruby on Rails
Experience with formal quality assurance software processes and testing methodologies
Experience with modeling database schemas based on user specifications.
Demonstrated work experience with a variety of programming paradigms, including object-oriented, using one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java.
Demonstrated work experience in leading software development projects and understanding of project management. Ability to lead projects, strong organizational skills; ability to adapt to changing priorities, and changing deadlines. Experience with contemporary software development methodologies such as scrum, agile and extreme programming.
Demonstrated knowledge of academic data stores such as COEUS, user management systems such as Shibboleth and Single Sign On.
Experience using current standards for securing data in program development, data bases and transmission of data.
Expertise in integration methods. Demonstrated ability to integrate to package applications
Effective communication and effective interpersonal skills to present information and ideas clearly and succinctly and to explain various application software and hardware to staff.
Ability to develop and maintain written document regarding technical specifications, protocols, and coding comments.
