Under the supervision of Director and other designated staff of the Human Research Protections Program (HRPP), provide full scope of general office and administrative support for the HRPP Office which includes assistance, reception, answering main phones,delivering confidential documents and mail escort, maintaining integrity of database by accurate data entry, sorting mail, purchasing, travel, ordering office supplies, errands and performing specials tasks and other duties as needed. Must be professional, poised and able to act with discretion with highly confidential information.
Demonstrated related experiences, knowledge and ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations and legislation regarding the protection of human subjects. Familiarity with human subjects research or related research areas.
These include regulations under Federal policies, FDA, Dept of Health and Human Services (HHS) and other compliance agencies or directives as well as (local HRPP, VCHS and UC-wide policies and procedures - preferred).
Ability to perform a variety of financial transactions and processes including travel, expense reporting, entertainment, purchasing, etc. with knowledge of University policies and procedures related to same.
Excellent telephone skills with ability to use multi-line telephone system while handling high volume of incoming calls with ability to transfer and refer calls and take accurate messages.
Skill to independently compose and reply to memos, email, correspondence and telephone calls using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Ability to use initiative and creativity in utilizing computer systems/programs to improve administrative functions, with the skill and ability to manage a variety of records and informantion, in digital and and hard copy format, including knowledge of various filing systems and the skill to set up and maintain files for easy retrieval.
Ability to operate a Laser printer, photocopier, multi-line telephone, facsimile machine, and other standard office equipment.
Superior oral and written communications skills with ability to interact and communicate professionally, sensitively and effectively with a diverse population of faculty, administrators, visitors, students, staff and the general public.
