The Patient Safety Manager is a member of the Performance Improvement & Patient Safety (PIPS) department and an important, high-profile position in the organization focused on analyzing and improving the safety of the care we provide. As an expert in Patient Safety, this nurse is responsible for coordinating the Patient Safety Committee, addressing organizational compliance with National Patient Safety Goals as well as other external patient safety requirements (e.g. Leapfrog, NQF, CMS). This role monitors patient safety indicators, hospital acquired conditions and oversees enterprise-wide use of incident reporting data. Consideration for the culture of safety and related training and improvement strategies will be integral to the position. Incumbent manages clinical improvement initiatives from data collection, analysis and reporting to improvement plan development and monitoring implementation. The success of this role is dependent upon excellent interpersonal, communication, process improvement and data use skills. In addition to patient safety initiatives, this role supports organization-wide patient safety education and related regulatory compliance. Job standards are to be performed at the EXPERT level.
CA RN license and BCLS (BART) certificate required. Three (3) years experience in Performance Improvement and/or Patient Safety in a complex, acute care setting required. Expertise in performance improvement, patient safety, project mgmt, team facilitation, committee coordination, regulatory/safety standards preferred. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
BSN or equivalent bachelor's degree. Masters Degree in health related field preferred.
