The Infusion Center Physician Assistant:
Provides direct patient care to Infusion Center patients including ambulatory medical care services, management of infusion related reactions, and is the first responder for medical emergencies.
Performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Collaborates with the multidisciplinary care team.
Supports the physicians and provides assistance in writing chemotherapy and medication orders.
Provides patient/family and staff education.
Serves as a consultant when necessary.
Collaborates with administration to create policies and procedures to the operations of the Infusion Center.
Assists with educational programs for ongoing nursing continuing education and acts as an educational resource on a daily basis.
Participates in quality control, process improvement, and investigation of Quality Variance Reports.
Participates in and/or initiates research protocols.
Participates in community outreach and networking with community physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Develops and expands role responsibilities as patient and system needs change.
The Infusion Center Physician Assistant must:
Be a graduate of an accredited PA training program, be NCCPA certified, and possess a Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority issued by the Medical Board of California.
Possess a current CPR/BCLS certification.
Possess an ACLS certification or commit to achieving certification within 6 months of hire.
Have successfully completed or commit to complete within 6 months of hire the Controlled Substance Education Course by the California Academy of Physician Assistants.
Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
Be a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.
Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
