The Clinical Research (CR) Operations Manager will oversee the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study (ADCS) Clinical Operations Group and report directly to the ADCS Director. The ADCS coordinates multiple clinical trials of promising agents for the prevention or treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, with up to 10 clinical trials being conducted at any one time at various stages of development, implementation, or close out. The CR Operations Manager will coordinate activities among seven ADCS functional groups (administration, recruitment, medical, statistics, quality control, informatics, clinical operations), the project director of each protocol, and build a collaborative team focused on the efficient performance of clinical trials. Additional responsibilities include field and prioritize queries from the ADCS Administrative Core and from individual Project Directors. The CR Operations Manager will provide supervision to clinical operations staff including project coordination, participate in developing, training and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, and assists in grant writing.
Theoretical knowledge in math, biologic/psychological science or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Knowledge of the fundamentals of statistical design and analysis of clinical trials data. Experience with NIH grants and procedures.
Experience in developing long-term goals, initiatives, plans and programs and evaluating work accomplishments. Proven ability to develop, analyze, and carry out program and project objectives and work with others in achieving organizational goals. Ability to research, gather and organize information to produce clear and concise reports and presentations using various resources.
Working knowledge of bioinformatics theory and its application to clinical trials research. Experience incorporating theory tools and resources into clinical trial design and implementation. Knowledge of design of clinical trials data collection forms for use in multi-center studies. Experience with data collection and management including quality control measures
Knowledge of clinical trials design and of databases and experience with managing data flow. Experience in data collection, database management and data analysis. Demonstrated experience with evaluating the clinical study design and ability to identify necessary resources and procedures to carry out successful implementation of the clinical study.
Proven experience in maintaining quality control in coordinator and data manager related responsibilities. In-depth knowledge and understanding of audit requirements involving interpreting regulations, guidelines, and compliance issues.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Strong decision-making skills and ability to use independently judgment to quickly set priorities, solve problems and resolve conflict. Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to unexpected events and crises.
Demonstrated experience with training, and evaluating the performance of personnel, including aspects of hiring, coaching, and complaint resolution. Ability to develop job requirements and performance standards.
Experience managing project budgets including monitoring expenses, creating and analyzing projections, auditing fiscal reports, and providing status reports.
Experience using computers, specifically word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation applications such as Microsoft Word, FileMaker Pro, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, or equivalent.
Excellent interpersonal skills with strong, demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of people through all levels of the organization.
